Complēre Studio grew out of our own learning and our close work with philanthropic leaders. When generative AI arrived, we began convening free learning sessions for funders and nonprofit leaders to share what we were discovering. Hundreds of leaders later, that field-building work became the Studio.

Much of the conversation about AI swings between hype and doomsday. We see something more hopeful: a real chance to strengthen the work, as long as we figure out how to do it without costing the people doing it or the planet. We help leaders work through those questions as they integrate AI responsibly, from building literacy to embedding practice across grantmaking and operations.

We're three practitioners who've spent our lives focused on impact, with deep roots in philanthropy, facilitation and peer learning, and technology. We've learned a lot, and we're glad to share it.

Complēre Studio is the result of our own learning. Over the last few years, we've built a powerful AI-enabled tool for philanthropy and engaged hundreds of leaders, staff, and practitioners along the way - listening closely to what actually helps and what gets in the way.

The Studio is a field-building effort, not a promotional arm of Complēre. What we offer is focused on activating AI - in general - within the specific context of philanthropy. Our goal is to help the sector adopt AI responsibly and effectively, regardless of which tools or platforms you choose.

It's a collaboration between three practitioners who've lived the realities of impact-focused work - the long hours, the lean budgets, the weight of knowing your decisions affect real communities.

Ryan brings 25 years of nonprofit and philanthropic leadership to the work of Complēre Studio. His career has been spent inside the sector - alongside foundations, funders, and mission-driven organizations - which is why our programs are grounded in the real conditions practitioners face, not abstractions about them.

With 20+ years leading teams and designing learning experiences, Patrick brings the expertise behind our group coaching and cohort programs. Our 8-week structure, phased learning design, and facilitated sessions draw directly from his background in adult learning theory and performance culture.
